The Challenge
Lush’s in-store display units were made from virgin acrylic, which didn’t fit with the brand’s long-standing commitment to environmental and ethical responsibility. The brief was to find a sustainable alternative without giving up any performance. The replacement had to match virgin acrylic for strength, durability and longevity, so it could cope with constant handling in busy stores. It also had to give Lush’s bath bomb range the bold, eye-catching presentation customers expect.
The Solution
We sourced Green Cast®, an acrylic that is 100% recycled and 100% recyclable and has the same material characteristics as virgin acrylic. We then used our in-house manufacturing and fabrication facilities to produce bespoke display units built to last on the shop floor. These included a series of multi-coloured acrylic blocks designed to show off Lush’s bath bombs in window displays. To make the sustainability story visible to shoppers, we engraved a sustainable stamp onto the displays. That gave Lush a simple way to show the environmental credentials of its fixtures at the point of sale.
Our sourcing and production of recyclable units turned each display into a visible statement of the brand’s values, reinforcing the message to customers at the moment of purchase.
Lush received a range of durable, long-lasting displays that perform like virgin acrylic but are made entirely from recycled material and can be recycled again at the end of their life. The switch brought Lush’s in-store fixtures into line with its environmental goals, so its sustainability commitments now cover the displays its products sit on. The multi-coloured blocks gave the window displays real stopping power, drawing attention to the bath bomb range from the street and supporting Lush’s in-store merchandising.
